Greetings All! Since Great Western War appears to have suffered a deadly blow, here is an opportunity for a fun weekend that just might help ease the woe and provide fun for others a little less fortunate. Besides - we are supposed to be an educational non-profit..... "FREEDOM IN MOTION" Is looking for a few good Medievals. The Barony of Naevehjem has been invited to participate in a FREEDOM FAIRE which is a fund raiser for the Bishop Chapter of Freedom in Motion – a non-profit therapeutic riding program for handicapped kids. THE FAIRE WILL BE HELD AT THE EASTERN SIERRA TRI-COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS - JUNCTION OF US 395 AND US 6 IN BISHOP, CA, ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 AND OCTOBER 1, 2006, FROM 10 AM TO 5 PM EACH DAY. The Barony of Naevehjem would like to invite all interested SCA Folks to join us for a demo of Medieval arts and tournament fighting as participants in the Freedom Faire. We will `strut our stuff' primarily on Saturday. However, it would be great to have as many people as possible stay over Saturday night and provide additional `atmosphere' for Sunday. Areas will be set up for heavy weapons fighting and for fencing. Sorry, but there is no archery range at the fairgrounds. Faire organizer Carol Archuleta is especially interested in equestrian activities and they have a private party interested in sponsoring our equestrian folks to help with the cost of getting people and animals to Bishop! There is ample barn space at the fairgrounds. If there is a spokesperson for the equestrian folks please contact Lady Amicia via this list, or at the contact info noted at the end of this missive. The Faire organizers attended several for-profit Ren Faires and were not really satisfied with that type of atmosphere. They are looking for people who are willing to interact with the kids in their program; tell them about life in the Middle Ages from the perspective of each of our personas. They are interested in a period encampment with demonstrations of any and all medieval arts and crafts. The organizers have arranged for horseback jousting with another organization and have a variety of musical and theatrical entertainers. Overnight camping is available, in both the period encampment and in an area set aside for modern tents and RVs. There are showers and restrooms available on site. Set-up will be on Friday September 29. The organizers will provide a BBQ dinner both Friday and Saturday evening for all participants. The organizers are talking with local hotels to see if they can arrange a discount for Faire participants. All interested in participating are asked to contact THL Amicia Sennet' de Brugge (aka Beth Porter) at: amicia@qnet.com or PO Box 56 Independence, CA 93526, or by phone - evenings 760-764-2038. Freedom in Motion is also able to provide limited funds to help out with transportation costs for Faire participants. I can provide more info on that to those individuals who are willing to come up and help us out. I also have some photos of the fairgrounds that I can post or send individually if people are interested. There is plenty of grass and trees. In Service to the Dream, THL Amicia Sennet' de Brugge ----------------------------- Don't Forget!! The Freedom in Motion Ren Faire Demo is Saturday, Sept. 30 and Sunday, Oct 1, 2006. They have decided to provide a dinner for all participants Saturday evening only. There will be a hospitality room Saturday and Sunday morning - coffee and donut sort of thing. There are plenty of restaurants in Bishop in all price ranges and types of food for Friday evening or if you are camping you can fix your own stuff. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN PARTICIPATE!!! Good Morning!

Would really like to see you there, but understand the financial end of things. I will have Randy get intouch this week to pick up the eric poles and rope. Is there anything else in storage that we might use? Where is the big Naevehjem banner that Lord Gerory of St. Albans made? Would be a nice touch if available.
Amicia

PS: as far as Iknow we wil still get a stipend from Freedom in motion that could go to help off-set gas costs. I also noticed that this morning in Lone Pine gas was $2.99.9 and last week in Bishop I filled the sub for $2.75.9 !  Amazing that it is now under $3/gallon!!
